Tillkit / Build with AI
A store you can change by asking an AI
Tillkit is an online store template written so AI coding assistants can work on it safely: plain Node.js with one dependency, a CLAUDE.md file that explains the code and its payment rules, and tests that run without any keys.
Updated October 2026
Why it suits AI assistants
- Plain code. No framework and one dependency (pg), so there's less for an assistant to learn before it changes something, and less that can break when it does.
- A CLAUDE.md file. It explains how the store is laid out and the rules that keep payments safe. Claude Code reads it automatically; with other assistants, ask them to read it first.
- Tests that need no keys. The automated tests run against a fake Stripe server, so an assistant can check its own work before anything goes live.
- Simple storage. JSON files on your computer while you work on changes, and Postgres on Railway when you're live.
The rules it gives your assistant
These three rules come straight from the CLAUDE.md file in the kit:
- Money is integer cents everywhere (2500 = $25.00).
- Never trust prices, totals or stock sent from the browser.
- An order is only marked paid after the payment provider confirms it (webhook or server-side check), never because of a URL parameter alone.
What you can ask for
Open your store's folder in Claude Code, Cursor or another AI coding assistant, and describe the change in plain words. A few example requests:
- "Add a size guide to product pages in the Apparel category."
- "Show how much more a customer needs to spend for free shipping, in the cart."
- "Add a gift message box at checkout and include it in the order email."
- "Use our new photo and headline at the top of the homepage."
These are examples of requests, not features in the box. Ask the assistant to run the tests when it's done, check the change on your own computer, then push it to your GitHub repository for Railway to deploy.
If a change goes wrong
Your store's code lives in your own GitHub repository, so any change can be undone, and Railway can roll back to an earlier deploy.
When to ask a person instead
Large changes, such as a new payment provider or a marketplace with many sellers, are worth having someone read the code. We take custom changes at $100 an hour, quoted before work starts. If you'd rather not touch code at all, our done-for-you setup is $599 with the kit included.
Questions
Which AI coding assistants work with Tillkit?
Any assistant that can read and edit the files in a folder, such as Claude Code, Cursor or GitHub Copilot. Claude Code reads the CLAUDE.md file automatically; with other tools, ask the assistant to read it first.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The setup guide gets your store running without code, and you can describe changes to an AI assistant in plain words. Knowing a little helps you check what it did.
Does the AI need my Stripe keys?
No. The tests use a fake Stripe server, so no keys are needed to test changes. Your live keys stay in your hosting settings.
Is the code open source?
No. Buyers get the full source code and can change anything, but may not resell, share or publish it.
Own your store.
$79 once for the full source code, the setup guide and 30 days of setup help by email. Hosting is yours, from $5 a month on Railway. Building stores for clients? The Agency License is $249.
